We’re excited to announce we’re recruiting a MOTION DESIGNER for a permanent position with us at Faltrego.


Salary: £26K- £29.5K (FTE 0.8: £20,800 - £23,600)

Plus: 36 days total Holiday pro rata (28 days holiday entitlement on top of bank holidays pro rata), pension scheme, sick pay and some flexible working

4 days per week (negotiable)

About the job

We are looking to bring in a Motion Designer for our Design department to work 4-days a week (negotiable: Monday-Thursday) starting around mid May 2022. If you are a hard worker with enthusiasm to make animated films for charities, please see the details below and apply.

Role responsibilities will be tailored to the candidate and are flexible

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Design Lead (line manager) and in-house video creatives on appropriate solutions for their creative concepts

  • Working to fast turnover and time pressures

  • Sometimes liaising directly with clients on email or on calls

  • Creating motion graphics-based videos, animations and lower thirds/animated sequences to support live action videos. This includes:

    • Implementing brand guidelines within design

    • Design and animation for motion graphics

    • Illustration - able to create complex scenes using illustrator or photoshop

    • Storyboarding

    • 2D Character Rigging and Animation using After Effects

Requirements:

  • A comprehensive knowledge of Adobe CC software is essential. A high level of knowledge in Adobe CC After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator are a must.

  • Strong knowledge of 2D vector based animation using After Effects is essential (Bachelor’s degree in related field, qualification or some vocational experience)

  • Experience with the use of third-party plugins for After Effects

  • An impressive showreel/Portfolio that displays a diverse skill-set in all things design, motion graphics and animation

  • An understanding of storytelling, camera moves, timing and flow in animation

  • A graphic design eye to work within brand guidelines and create original looks and styles - an eye for detail and for crafting beautiful work

  • An understanding of the production process

  • The ability to understand client considerations and answer client briefs

  • The ability to meet tight deadlines

  • Collaboration: the ability to work with and exchange ideas with other team members is essential whether one to one or to participate in cross department brainstorms.

  • Conceptual thinking and able to bring ideas to the creative process - working well with the Design Lead to develop the creative direction on projects

  • Experienced user of macOS

  • Fluent in English language and a good eye for copy checking

Must be London-based: this is a remote (work-from-home) role based in London. We have co-working spaces in central London (e.g. Kings Cross) where we hot-desk, collaborate and co-work with one another at mutual convenience and when projects call upon it.


Desirable:

  • Knowledge of other types of animation other than vector. For example, stop motion, 3D animation, frame by frame.

  • Knowledge of other animating/illustrating software such as Blender, Procreate, cinema 4D etc.

  • Video editing skills using Premiere Pro

  • A deep passion and knowledge of the design and animation industry - you bring energy, drive and enthusiasm

  • Proactive in your approach, anticipating challenges before a project is started

  • Collaborative: share ideas and bring innovation for us to learn and grow

  • Keen ambition to learn, grow and improve within the company - being open to direction and mentorship

  • Be highly organised, with a sensible approach to tight deadlines

  • Diligent nature, with an understanding of process, organisation and workflows

  • Interest in social justice and positive social change and/or experience with charities

  • Customer service: efficient, warm and friendly on emails and phone calls with clients

  • A start-up attitude able to embrace change, and happy to be adaptable and flexible when projects call upon you
